Hey again.
Been busy here in the comic mines and should have a little announcement for you all soon. In the meantime I have a bunch of books coming out. We’ll get to all that in a bit.
Before that, I just wanted to acknowledge a cool thing.
They just published the list of top selling comics for May and look at us, right there at #30. Hell yeah! Is it weird to celebrate coming in 30th? Kinda. But also kinda no.
First of all, we didn’t “come in 30th.” Art isn’t a competition and we’d be proud of the book even if none of you bought it. Yes, I’m the one who used that phrase. No, I don’t know why. Moving on.
More importantly, there are a lot of comics that come out every month. Many of them from the largest corporations and most recognizable brands in the world. So anytime a bunch of weirdos can dream up something and put it out into the world and it goes toe to toe with Disney, Warner Bros, Spider-Man, Batman, Transformers, and Star Wars that is a cause for celebration. The fact that all the readers out there who took a chance on our little book about sad robots made it sell better than some of the most recognizable characters in nerddom is not lost on me. So thank you. And actually the only creator owned comics that sold better than us in May were the excellent ODIN #1 from our friends at Image Comics and James Tynion IV and BATTLE BEAST #9 from Image and the fine folks at Skybound. If you’re gonna get beat, get beat by books you love. Anyway, thanks for picking up IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT… We have a lot more fun stuff in store.
As mentioned prior, big couple weeks for books. Had these three issues drop.
Thomas, Andy, Stephen, and all the colorists and letterers are really crushing it on these books. I’d say I’m very lucky to ride their coattails, but it’s not luck. I work hard to figure out which coattails to ride. It’s a skill.
I’ve had a fair amount of people message me to ask where to get signed books from me. Well I’ve got some good news. I have a few signings and 2 (!) convention appearances coming up. Yup. My first cons in 6 years. Super stressed about it. But if you want stuff signed, stay tuned for news on that.
In the meantime, my preference is always that you grab books from your local comic shop. And I’ve been to a bunch recently and signed copies there. I can’t guarantee that they are still on shelves but you can go check. So if you’re near any of these grab some stuff and support these great stores.
MIDTOWN COMICS in NYC has copies of IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT… signed by me, Mark, and Andy! And they ship everywhere in the world! Give some love to my hometown shop and order here, here, and here.
THIRD EYE COMICS in Annapolis, MD had me sign a bunch of SPAWN and KING SPAWN, and Mark and Andy also signed IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT…. They might still have some in store or on their site. Poke around.
BRAVE NEW WORLDS in Philly has signed copies of IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT…, SPAWN, and KING SPAWN, plus a smattering of other stuff I’ve done signed as well. Get yourself some Wawa while you’re there.
WORLD’S END in Kingston, NY has copies of WHAT’S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE? and IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT… signed by myself and Andy as well. Stop in and grab a copy or two.
ZEUS COMICS in Dallas has signed copies of IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT… and SPAWN. A really nice shop I’d never been to before. Go show them some love.
BANKSTON'S in Waco, Texas has signed copies of IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT…, SPAWN, and KING SPAWN. Get some books from them and then go visit the amazingly named burger/milkshake stand- HEALTH CAMP!
FINAL BOSS COMICS in Lawrenceville, NJ has signed copies of IDBOL, SPAWN, KING SPAWN, WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US, and WHAT’S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE? A great shop with a nice bakery next door. What more could you want?
THE GEEKERY in Matawan, NJ has signed copies of IDBOL, SPAWN, KING SPAWN, WTFPFH? and even some issues of HAWKEYE FREEFALL if you want. Those are tricky to find these days. Go tell them I said hey.
FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE in Newark, NJ has signed copies of IDBOL and SPAWN. A really fun shop that is 2 blocks from my all time favorite sandwich in the world. You have to go.
FORBIDDEN PLANET in NYC has signed copies of SPAWN, IDBOL, and they just got in a restock of the WE CAN NEVER GO HOME tpb that I signed. So stop in and grab some books.

Civil Disobedience is a 150+ page anthology that not only features 16 stories about resistance, but includes useful guides and practical resources for getting involved, staying safe, and making a difference!
And look at this awesome list of contributors.
I really want my copy of this book, but I can’t get it if this book isn’t funded. So you should do it for me, first and foremost. But also, if you back this you’ll get yourself a cool book out of it.
Lets work together to help put cool books out into the world.
Speaking of the world, it’s kinda fucked.
If you haven’t been paying attention to the Des Revol case you probably should. He was just sentenced to 30 years in prison for “concealing a document or record” which, in his case, was moving a box of anti-fascist zines. These aren’t classified documents or contraband. They are publicly available zines protected by the first amendment. As a person who makes art, cares about the constitution, and doesn’t like fascists, this scares the shit out of me. And it is supposed to. It is governmental intimidation meant to quash freedom of speech and activism.

In honor of the 4th of July and the fight against tyranny, I’m donating all of the proceeds from our book webstore for the next week to Des Revol’s legal defense fund.
