As I write this beautiful spring morning in London, I’m sitting at my desk which overlooks the gardens of the house that has recently sold for the highest price paid for residential property across all time. It is stunning without doubt, yet no one else around here has anything like this level of prosperity and it begs the question how is it possible to have such contrasts living side by side in the middle of a big city?

I remember years ago being in Delhi at the end of an adventurous trip around India, longing for home and a familiar bed. I treated myself to a couple of nights in a swanky hotel, as there were flight cancellations and delays. Below me in the street were beggars, elephants and cows wandering through the affluent area.

The transition, often described as ecological, to a society that lives in greater inclusion, fairness and harmony with one another and our beloved planet is well underway. The media fills us with stories of breakdown and collapse, war and strife, whichever way we turn.

What if, though, outdated systems of belief and organisation are breaking down not because Doomsday is right around the corner, but as the break through to a much more conscious, awakened way of life? One where we have a sacred relationship with whatever we consider as the Divine, which shows us where we are still holding back from embodying unconditional love, guides us how to heal and free ourselves from those karmic binds and assists us in ways that beggar belief to bring forth a civilisation that lives in unity?

If you’ve been following my somewhat sporadic writings here and on other platforms, you will know that 2025, the Year of the Wood Snake, was a time of intense shedding in my life, as in so many others. Just turn on the news and it is evident, everywhere. That process began for me at least a decade earlier, picked up pace, or perhaps better, got my attention at the start of the pandemic, then accelerated last February. It was a rapid unravelling of all that had kept me safe, secure and small for most of my life, created and organised by a sense of self that was operating from unconscious programming. Depending on my state of mind, heart and soul at any time, that burning away of all that was not love oscillated between feeling like a victim who had lost everything that was important to her, and being a free spirit, finally at liberty to create life as she had always wanted to. To do the work she feels called to in the world, without any limits on who, why and how. To love as she feels to be true, not according to another’s wishes and needs, as much as I loved all of them.

Now we are already well into the Year of the Firehorse, a galloping whirl of energy that is bringing fast expansion of consciousness and big manifestations. The oscillations continue, arguably at smaller amplitude but with similar intensity. For me personally, this is part of a process of transfiguration I am involved in with a community of others seeking to embody non-duality and unconditional love, in a world that operates quite differently. To experience the turbulence of life, particularly outside the ‘castle walls’ of a transactional, late-stage capitalist society where only the very fittest can flourish and the rest of us, sooner or later, and potentially without much warning, will find ourselves reduced at best to the serfdom of the Middle Ages. Many believe this will happen as soon as late 2026.

So perhaps this transition is not so much ecological as one taking place in our collective consciousness, as we understand more about the subjective nature of Reality and how we create our lives, rather than something objective ‘out there’ that happens to us that we must make as efficient and secure as possible so that we can flourish, generally at the expense of others and the world that sustains us. It is a unique opportunity to birth a new civilisation characterised by beauty, abundance, elegance, prosperity and love, for all. It has often been described as the new Renaissance. I like to think of it it as the movement from self to Soul.
