Artstuff x Online Eye

Hi! This is a newsletter about artists I like.

I began acquiring art through some friends who worked in galleries. I started small, working on a limited budget for stuff I could afford. As time passed, my collection grew, and it was exciting to watch many of the artists I'd collected go on to bigger shows and critical acclaim. My goal with this newsletter is to make a digestible resource for anyone interested in artists making excellent (and still affordable!) work whom you haven't heard about... yet.

Sorry for the radio silence….. I got sick, new job, and overall life stuff has gotten in the way of this newsletter and classic ME, I’m doing another one. The working title is Online Eye but I honestly have no clue what to call it but this is a somewhat different iteration of a project I started in 2017.

I started “collecting” about 20 years ago and that came from going to estate sales in Los Angeles. I soon recognized fellow collectors, flippers, dealers, designers, and shop owners at the same sale and quickly realized where a lot of stuff is found/sourced etc.

Finding unique things to live with became an obsession and I opened up a shop in Southern California with a fair amount of those “found things.” This ranged from clothing, books, homewares, art and furniture. I have always been a bit more general than obsess over a specific niche.

Why Estate sales? They are all across the USA and more accessible to all, in location and price, and it also allows you to develop your own eye and taste. You don’t know what you don’t know. Much like this art newsletter, in hopefully showing you artwork thats not astronomical, we will show you interesting stuff that YOU actually have the chance to get, at a more reasonable price.

Aside from just showing you our favorite sales, we will have guest writers, show you are own scores, and hopefully show you how to outfit your home with interesting things that don’t scale and aren’t from some corny DTC brand….not all DTC brands are equal obviously.

The art newsletter will always reamin free but for the good stuff on the estate sale world, it will be PAID. To my current readers, hopefully this still strikes a chord and you will follow and share. THANKS!
