This is a brief update and the beginning of a new version of my studio newsletter.

Almost everything I’m doing is in-progress and moving slowly at the moment. It looks like I’ll be teaching a workshop online for the Colorado Photographic Arts Center starting in September. There’s a grant that I’m working on, it’s for a collaborative public art project with a target audience of local older people, which may happen in the spring of 2026. There is also a collection of my minimalist landscape paintings available at Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor, Maine and I have two slightly larger paintings that are in-progress. I will post updates about this in-progress stuff once there are more specifics available. If you are on the Maine coast, drop by Artemis Gallery and check out their offerings!

Last week I went on a five day road trip to Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick. It was very cold, foggy and sideways-rainy but I came back relieved of some of the Depressive Funk of the Spring of 2025. Here’s a few photos from the trip:

Grand Manan, no, I didn’t see any flocks of sheep. Are they real?

Don’t know. I like the juxtaposition with the moon.

Maybe a future painting. I like the geometric shapes and colors.

All the dorys on the island are exactly the same. I guess it’s the right boat for the job.

Weird freaking wild-tame rabbits on Grand Manan. Everyone feeds them carrots and I don’t think there are many predators. This one must be albino-ish because the rest varied from brown to rust to light tan.

Lots of old stuff on the island. It has an interesting history and has seen a lot of change over the last few hundred years.

I met a guy here who loves his job. Lobster fishing is his awesome sauce.

I was having premonitions of the end of oil.

Ferries are fun. I accidentally bumped a gaff-hook and it fell off its perch and scared the crap out of me. I think the gaff-hook was actually a rope hook but it looked like the same thing you use to grab fish with.

Please don’t steal my photos. I am sharing them here so that my friends, fans and family can see what I’ve been up to. Also, they are an important aspect of how I do visual thinking and it’s fun to share.
