Dear Writers,
Yesterday, we gathered for a fireside conversation with Marie Celeste, a registered therapist, expressive arts therapist, writer, and beloved member of our Writers Club community.
I have known Marie for several years through Artist Morning, and I’ve also had the privilege of working closely with her inside The Creative Sanctuary as she has deepened her writing practice and begun bringing more of her stories into the world.
I invited her to join us for this week’s Writers Club bonus workshop because I had a feeling her work could offer us a different doorway into our creativity.
And wow, did it ever!
We spoke about why talking and thinking are not always enough to reach the truth, how creative practices can help us access the parts of ourselves we have learned to hide, and how to keep trusting our creative voice when fear of judgment shows up.
Below, you’ll find the full replay, including the meditation, writing exercise, and conversation with Marie.

Pick one human you care for deeply and write them a letter as if this were your last summer on Earth.
What would you want them to know before you go?
You might tell them:
What you love and admire about them
What they have meant to your life
A memory you never want them to forget
What you hope they remember about themselves
What you hope they do with their one wild and precious life
Anything you have struggled to say out loud
You could begin:
Dear Teyo,
(Teyo is my 11-month-old son.)If this were my last summer on Earth, before I go, there are a few things I really want you to know…
Don’t try to make it beautiful.
Make it honest.
In this honest and deeply human conversation, Marie and I explored how to keep creating when fear, self-doubt, and the possibility of being judged are all present.
We spoke about:
Why fear of judgment can make us disconnect from our own creative voice
Why talking and thinking are not always enough to reach the truth
How expressive arts can help us access what lives beneath words
Why so many of us learn to trust other people, systems, and expectations more than ourselves
How our younger parts continue to shape our creativity and our willingness to be seen
Why the goal is not to eliminate fear, but to build a stronger relationship with the parts of us that feel afraid
How becoming more whole can help us write and live with greater freedom
Marie also shared simple ways to use ordinary objects, images, and movement as doorways into deeper self-understanding.
