Once a month I chat with my Californian bestie online for a hour-long (or longer) chat about art, life and love.
It lights me up!
We share our news (highs, lows), our creative wins AND our current challenges - sharing muses, motivation, ideas and inspiration to help each other move forward.
I realised recently it was the very essence of the energy I feel when I write for Artist Diaries.
Collaboration, connection, creativity and curiosity. Unfolding intuitively, with an open heart and mind. Each creative wanting the best for the other - championing each other. Gently holding each other accountable too.
I’ve noticed how powerful this session is for me — sitting facing each other, giving each other undivided attention. A big part of why it works so well is because we are so close. We are close because we’ve built a beautiful friendship. We’ve built a relationship because we are aligned in our views and values.
My conversation with Kirsten was so expansive. She helped me realise how important it is to celebrate your wins.
And following our chat — as if to really drive the message home — the universe gifted me with amazing feedback (from friends, family, clients and collectors) for being nominated in a local business award. I didn’t win, but the feedback was so inspiring it made me cry.
My art is making an impact - what a win!
And in sharing my deepest thoughts and feelings with Kirsten, I realised I kept using the same word. A word that has come up in conversation many times over the last 3 months.
And with that, I realised I’d found my word for 2025.
Or perhaps it had found me.
Discernment.
