Last week, we shared some of our favorite paintable surfaces and some ways you can encourage independence and agency by setting up systems and routines for self-serve watercolor. Some of you shared that this was a whole new way of seeing and facilitating an art-making experience with children. Whether it is a bin of watercolors and supplies to take to a desk in a classroom or an entire buffet of materials for a large group of children to choose from, we see each encounter as an opportunity to build creative confidence, explore their own ideas, and be decision-makers. This week, we’re sharing a DIY egg carton chime video and more open-ended project ideas that combine egg cartons and watercolor, as well as our trick for making custom-colored wood beads to add to any project.
