There’s something magnetic about the way Benjamin Omoike works. While most artists reach for brushes, Benjamin goes for rope, nylon, & fabric. Not the polished, precious kind you’d find in an art supply store, but the rough, everyday rope that might tie down cargo in Lagos traffic or secure a market stall. And that’s precisely the point.

Born in Lagos in 1990, Benjamin’s artistic journey started the way many great stories do, with pure, unadulterated love. Not love for art theory or gallery openings, but love for colour. That’s what drew him to Auchi Polytechnic to study painting. But somewhere between the traditional techniques and the expected paths, Benjamin found his own voice in the most unexpected materials.

His subjects are hard to read; bold acrylics colliding with rope, fabric, and nylon in ways that shouldn’t work but absolutely do.
