Introducing the Brick by Brick Podcast

I’m excited to announce a new project we are launching at Garuda Ventures - the Brick by Brick podcast!

I know what you’re thinking - yet another VC podcast :) So why?

While there is a robust ecosystem of podcasts focused on founders, there is a gap when it comes to hearing the stories of how companies are actually built - the unglamorous blocking and tackling, the inflection points, and the stories that stick out years later. In particular my partner Rishi and I wanted to spotlight early employees, and from the founder perspective one that would ask them to weigh in on the early company building process rather than things like fundraising. 

I was fortunate to spend 8 years helping build Okta in the early years, and had a front row seat to seeing that business accelerate and hit escape velocity. The people, stories, and lessons from that time - from my own experience and that of other teams across the company and partner companies, and of course from the founders and the earliest set of employees - were invaluable. And Rishi has lived the early employee journey twice, as the first business hire at both Poynt and Legion. We knew first hand how valuable these untold stories and insights can be, so we decided to tap our networks and build a podcast to share the stories of these company builders.

Each episode will feature an early employee, founder, or investor sharing the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of building a startup, brick by brick. Our goal is for you, whether you’re a founder, an early employee, or simply startup-curious, to leave each episode with new insights and tactics that accelerate your company’s growth, avoid potential pitfalls, and increase your odds of going from 0 to 1.
