I did not expect to send back-to-back big news two days in a row, but hi again. I’m proud to announce that I have been selected as a finalist for the 2026 Livingston Awards. My family’s Holocaust story from Mountain Gazette 203, later republished as the book Stolen Headstones, was nominated.
A Livingston Award is the highest honor for journalists under the age of 35 and is also known as the “Pulitzer for the Young.” I’m frankly ecstatic just to be named among the finalists for international reporting, including journalists from The New Yorker, The Associated Press, and ProPublica.
I owe a huge thanks to my family for entrusting me with this story and to the entire team at Mountain Gazette, my editor, Mike Rogge, as well as Doug Schnitzspahn, Kim Stravers, and John Coleman.
Congratulations to all the other finalists, and many thanks to the judges for acknowledging the hard work done by everyone on this list.
