Tomorrow, I'm going to brave the Portland i5 traffic and head south towards Mendocino on my 4th trip to Northern California Since building the van in April. It's supposed to be rainy, and I'll probably finish an audio book, somewhere south of Eugene and then start another. It’s an 11 hour drive with stops and I’m going to try to push through in one go. Yesterday, I moved the sleeping platform and all my gear from the studio and attached it with the ratchet straps to the factory tie down points. Everything worked like I had planned, which anyone that has designed something and then built it, knows is not always the case. Short of hot gluing the Xt60 lead from the solar panel into my battery bank, so that it wouldn't fall out on bumpy roads, the set up was road ready, and as I packed the van in preparation for a rifle shooting class in Mendocino County, I thought back over the last ten thousand miles about the van and my experiences so far.
