if most everything about how we live must change, and fast, how do we begin?

even now the responses span the woefully inadequate gesture to the panicked techno-solution, re-affirming the same mindset that got us into this mess. we need to go deeper.

mustering the courage to face this requires a shift to collective, mutual support, orchestrating a great collaboration that honours every voice and finds power in sheer diversity. to radically depart from the concept of independent genius. to witness a pattern throughout living systems of symbiosis and reciprocity. we need each other in all our multiple abilities, not as followers to a hero but as a vast array of co-operating characters. we are not in competition here. put down the story of scarcity. we are equal to this only if we turn to each other, in intricate webs of interrelationship. we need all the voices. we need a tremendous upswell of stories and images and approaches to what’s possible. your success is mine. there is no one to defeat in a race to regenerate life.

i write to you here, within a system modelled upon competition for and extraction of your attention, based on unbridled profit for the shareholder. like you i grieve that it is so, when what we need is community, connection. we need new models. well, in the transition, we subvert these ones. have faith; now we see it for what it is, we will build models of abundance and attachment.

which brings me to another step. as we shake off the colonising dream and wake up to trusting collaboration and its recognition of the tremendous abundance that all life emerges from, we begin to reimagine what’s possible. knowing we have enough, we are enough, and resting in reciprocity with the living being we live within, ideas flow. they astonish, and we recognise that life is the world imagining itself. now, safe in interconnection, knowing we’re here for each other, that not a one is othered because we’re all infinitely, wildly diverse: so let’s play with possibility.

of course, we may still quibble over who gets to eat the pears/pear leaves. nothing’s perfect
