What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a giving vehicle that allows donors to make a charitable contribution and immediately receive a tax benefit. Then, over time, the donor can recommend gifts to the charities and organizations they want to support.
The Veritas Forum is an IRS-qualified charity, and is eligible to receive contributions from your gift fund. Please follow the instructions provided by your fund regarding minimum contribution and the process for recommending grants.

Maximize Your Impact
Giving appreciated securities is a strategic way to make a meaningful gift to Veritas. If you have held your stock for at least a year, you can deduct the full fair market value, regardless of what you originally paid. Additionally, you won’t need to pay capital gains taxes on the gift.
To Gift Securities
Step 1: Transfer Share
Direct your broker to make an electronic transfer of shares to the Veritas account.
Sample language: “I wish to make an irrevocable gift to Veritas of “XX” shares of “Name of Corporation.”

Once the stock is received and transferred into Veritas’s account, we will be notified.
Step 2: Let Us Know
To receive a receipt from Veritas, please send a copy of your broker correspondence to us and include any gift designation if applicable. In your correspondence, please include your name, name of stock, the number of shares, and name of brokerage. Please send to:

What is a Planned Gift?
Typically, a planned gift is given through a revocable trust or will, and makes a substantial impact on the organization you support. Planned gifts may offer you and your loved ones life income and tax benefits.
Sample Bequest Language
Gift of specific dollar amount:
“I hereby give to The Veritas Forum, located in Cambridge, MA the sum of $____.”
Gift of specific percentage of estate:
“I hereby give ____% of my estate [or “my Trust assets” if using a revocable living trust] to The Veritas Forum, located in Cambridge, MA.”
Types of Planned Gifts
