AI Statement

I don’t use AI anywhere on this site or in my email newsletter. Every word is written by me. Every image is created by me or attributed to the person who created it. I don’t use AI to help me code this website or my emails, I can do that on my own.

Despite the massive ethical implications of AI, I do think LLMs can be useful in limited cases. I use them when learning about new technical topics and for speeding up coding tasks on side projects and in my current role at GitHub (where the expectation is that they are used heavily). Anything they output is heavily reviewed for understanding and correctness and often updated because I still care about my craft, not vibe coding. I think of LLMs as untrusted agency amplifiers and sum up my approach as:

Nowhere near my art.

If you’re curious about how others are approaching AI usage, this roundup of AI statements from Ethan Marcotte is a good place to start digging in.

This could all change in the future, but I doubt it will.
