PSU Marine Biologist Wins $1.2M NSF Award to Study Ocean Microbes

Portland State biologist Anne Thompson received a prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER Award to research marine microbe predators. The $1.2 million project will involve about 200 PSU undergraduates in hands-on research to better understand ocean food webs and climate dynamics.

PSU Students Build Pickathon Stage From Nets Bound for Ukraine

PSU School of Architecture students designed and built Pickathon’s 2026 Cherry Hill stage using discarded Oregon fishing nets. Following the festival, the sustainable structure will be dismantled and shipped to Ukraine to protect civilians and soldiers from drone attacks.
