Mage-OS adoption is growing 🚀 Here’s a snapshot of Mage-OS installs since Ryan and the tech team recently started tracking adoption on the most recent releases via BuiltWith: https://lnkd.in/dmsDEmfy It’s still early, but the trajectory is encouraging and more importantly, it reflects what a community-driven open source ecosystem can achieve together. More and more merchants and developers are appreciating the value of Digital Sovereignty and the power of the Magento ecosystem. Join us! https://lnkd.in/d22PHV5m This is a huge group effort - Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this journey particularly our current partners without whom this would not be possible! Thank you Paradox Labs, Vendic, Hyvä, JH, Inchoo, JetRails, Develo, integer_net GmbH, Bulldog Media LLC, FindCanary - Digital Solutions for E-Commerce Thanks also to supporters Arron M., Ignacio Riesco, Mone Wildenberg, Ksenia Zvereva, Manuel Wortmann Board members Vinai, David, Ryan, Michiel, dr Maciej, Ruggero and Jan Orleański 🦅💡 for all his help BCC members Laura and Francis Anita Miller and Marcel Martinez working tirelessly to push things forward! The appearance of Vibe Coding, and the subsequent 60% surge in December, is to be entirely expected based on the heavy-handed advertising of Vibe Coding platforms on video services and social media. Regardless of the quality of these newcomer apps to the market (and, I doubt this trend is going away anytime soon) there's several major operational considerations that need to be made: 1) These extra entities are going to cause a greater stress on the hosting database. We already know that the creation of the apps is an overall expensive process - especially because most of these apps simply wouldn't be created without this tool - but we're now pushing the responsibility of hosting them onto platform holders like Google and Apple. Even if nobody downloads them, they still exist, after all. 2) In addition to the above, which is probably the most pertinent for the ecologically minded of us, there's also the curation issue. We already understand that most storefronts will simply not promote apps until they've seen a certain amount of engagement. Does this mean that we'll see a rise in engagement farming in order to hit that threshold? 3) Building on that, with a flooded market, how will the mobile storefronts (which are already lagging behind in their curation capacity due to the density and variety of games and apps) curate and serve up this content to people? Its been years since 'latest release' browsing simply became notable releases... what comes next? The first point is perhaps the most relevant to me on a personal level. Professionally, though, it's the third: With the Pocket Gamer Brands we decided long ago that the way forward was through Taste Making and Curation rather than simply trying to showcase everything. It's why we stuck to our niche rather than going wide with Switch or Steamdeck coverage. That's worked for us, our numbers are always going up, and we persist when others fall, collapse or implode... But, what does an equivalent for mobile app stores look like? More sections, more personalisation? If so, there's still not really a place for the vast, vast majority of these vibe coded apps anyway.
