International Software Craft and Testing Unconference UK
About us
SoCraTes UK is an #unconference that takes place in early June in the south of England. It is a gathering of open-minded software makers (developers, testers, analysts, and others!) who want to improve their craft and the software industry as a whole. It is community-focused: a great opportunity to speak to and code with many curious and talented people in a very relaxed and beautiful setting.

Thank you to all the lovely attendees who made SoCraTes UK 2026 a wonderful time last month. An open space conference only happens thanks to the participants, and the ideas that they bring to the conference. There were 38 sessions over the two days, covering both technical and non-technical topics. https://lnkd.in/e_gPnCT9 Friendly reminder, the Slack history will disappear after a 90-days period. If you want to capture anything, archive it. You can also share your notes in the wiki. If you have written a blog post, please share it with us. #SoCraTesUK #SoftwareCraft #OpenSpace

We are so grateful for the many of you who have contributed to our fundraiser already: we're 93% there π and only Β£170 from our target. We are touched by the comments you have left us and feeling bolstered by the community at large. If you were thinking of contributing but haven't gotten around to it yet, there's still time. Or if you'd like to read those lovely messages :) https://lnkd.in/e73jZQvJ

SoCraTes UK 2026 was a fantastic event as always. Sadly this year we sold fewer tickets and had fewer sponsors than we hoped, and the upshot is that we finished this yearβs event with a shortfall of Β£2,300. :( We've therefore started a crowdfunder to raise money to clear the remaining debt (link in comments). We will be delighted to receive whatever you are able to share. No amount is too small! And if you can't donate money, then sharing this campaign also helps :) Background: SoCraTes UK is a non-profit, international Software Crafters retreat for open-minded crafters who want to improve their craft and the software industry as a whole. Organised by a group of volunteers from the Software Crafters Community, the conference is an annual opportunity for curious and talented people to collaborate in a relaxed and beautiful setting.
