Fintech is the distribution channel, and Maple is the credit engine behind it. Latin America shows just how big that channel is becoming. The region's fintech market is on track to more than triple by 2034, from roughly $15 billion today to $54 billion, growing at over 15% a year, according to IMARC Group. That's why we'll be at Finosummit in Mexico City, September 23–24. On the agenda: Meetings with fintech and financial institution partners building the next wave of onchain distribution across Latin America. Mike Kempen from our BD team will be on the ground. Drop him a DM if you'd like to meet.

Maple Finance built an API that lets any fintech run a lending business. It starts with crypto-backed loans, because fintechs already hold the required collateral in their users' wallets. "Your customers hold Bitcoin. They're going to be able to start to borrow against that Bitcoin." "As you start to get into further tokenization of assets, people holding equities and other assets on-chain within their fintech experience of choice, you can start to add more and more lending against those assets before you start to get into the cash flow loans." Sidney Powell doesn't think the traditional asset management fee model survives the next decade. On The Future of Money with Henri Arslanian, our co-founder and CEO laid out why. Stablecoins are pulling capital out of banks that are structurally restricted to low-margin lending, and Maple already runs on roughly 80 basis points against the 2-and-20 model common across private credit and traditional asset management. He also pointed to Robinhood's 30 million users as a preview of where that capital comes from next: neobanks and fintechs that hand customers stablecoins, then need a way to pay yield on them. For fintechs, distribution used to be the hard part. Now it's the solved part. The next challenge is monetizing that customer base without adding friction back in, and the balances customers already hold are the obvious place to start. The instinct is to compete on headline rate. But the rate tells you almost nothing about whether the yield is durable, or what happens when something breaks. The real questions: who's paying it, out of what activity, and against what protection? In a new piece for FinTech Futures, our cofounder Sidney Powell on the monetization model stablecoins are handing fintech. Article linked below ↓
