On another read-it-later service

Last year I decided to build myself a service that could host all the material I saved to read later and, manage my RSS feed subscriptions.

I am calling it Vitur.

The idea is rather simple - a queue of articles to read later. The input for the queue can come from manually adding article URLs or, subscribing to RSS feeds and saving them. That was the starting point.

Today you can also see a feed of your RSS subscriptions and read/save from there.

Doing less is a feature

It is part of the whole idea that I won't be adding features left and right. The goal here is to polish the experience based on the initial idea:

It must be calm.
It must NOT have any AI features.
It must keep data safe.
It must NOT have any ads.
It must focus on the reading and remembering
It must be easy.
It must be simple.
It must look and feel good and polished.
It must be entirely hosted in the EU.

A calm reading experience.

There won't be an AI assistant, no pop-ups, not up-sells, no upgrades, nothing. Just good, solid, old-fashioned software that works as you expect and gets more polished over time.

There won't be a huge team of engineers working on this either.

I read a lot. I take notes, I highlight and I don't like things getting in the way. I don't want to discuss this with a "smart assistant".

I want to sit back and do my reading. There's already too much to distract me from life and I hope I can preserve my reading time as a focus moment.
