if you are praising hard work they will do more hard work, simple as that. there after your validation unlike the intelligent ones they don't care.

Praise? I was raised in the 60’s. We weren’t supposed to have emotions or require motivation. My motivation was to get out of the trailer park.

I am focusing on the choice of words, we've seen online even (tiktoks and reels etc) that rather praising their intelligence it's more productive to praise their efforts, just like the lady in the video said, I'm only making this conclusion based on this video and not by reading the actual experiment if there's one that is being represented in this video or if this is just a overlook summary

I was only given praises if I did something exceptional, so that made me a people pleaser who looked for ways to earn more praises. But if I failed and I was criticized I told myself I wasn’t good enough and that’s why I failed.
Im a teacher of adult learners now and I always try to praise my students for their efforts because I know that’s how they’ll be motivated to try harder without blaming themselves too much when they fail

You praise a kid for its intelligence and then expect it to give more effort vs the output. 😂 Ironic.

What do you need praise for? You were supposed to do this. Do better next time. That's the best we got 😂😂

I guess I have to thank my parents for my success in life… They always told me that I was stupid and would never amount to anything… my mom had a very endearing nickname for me “lazy piece of shit”. my dad on multiple occasions said that I was a “waste of life”😂
I now have my masters degree, own an international mental health company, published author, TEDTalk speaker, ultramarathoner
