my cat seriously goes crazy for the pate cube gem things. they probably load it with sugar or something addictive to cats because this dude makes weird noises and freaks out if he thinks I have a gem and I'm not gonna give it to him.

That's why cat food products will taste kinda weird to humans (no sweetness) even though they are perfectly edible.

Yes. I don't know if Fancy Feast is good or not but generally the more expensive cat foods have better ingredients and less filler or no filler compared to the cheap brands. I've been feeding my kitty wet food tuna from a brand called Weruva for around a decade and he's fit as a fiddle according to his yearly vet visits. It's kind of soupy but I always add a little warm water because kitty loves his food wet. He hates dry clumpy wet food that has no liquid. It took a bit of trial and error and talking to his vet to find a good wet good brand he would eat and Weruva fit the bill. He also gets a little dry Purina cat food after his wet food.

the suffering of chickens is actually far worse than the suffering of cows in factory farms. cows typically do not have this lips (analogous to the beak) sheared off and baby male cows are not belt-fed into blenders.

eating red meat is the better option, cows specifically, cows at the very least have a slightly better chance of living a slightly better life than other animals because, probably because their sheer bulk makes a corral more attractive than a warehouse.

OP next time you're passing a Chinese grocer pop in and grab a bottle of this.

It's one of those sauces that's perfect for a lof of Chinese food because it isn't sweet, it's salty and a little tangy but no sweetness at all, which makes it pefect for dumplings and stir fried dishes and noodles all which tend be sweet to begin with. It doesn't taste right when you try it on a spoon, but dump it into some lo mein/hokkien mee and it'll all make sense.
