    Basically every programmer went on a project bender as soon as we could start using coding agents. The sheer number of projects that I knew I would never get around to, or served only the purpose of curiosity that I now have sitting on my hard drive is staggering

    sometimes i think about the projects i spent literally years of my life on that could be done in a month or two now, probably to a higher standard as well

    As a programmer if you starting working in *domain* and you read 1 book about it, you become the *domain* expert by default unless it’s video games, cybersecurity or space

    Relate so hard to this. A lot of moments where I realized my attempts to keep up actually shot me way far ahead. Do the reading.

    My 11 year old is reading the Iliad at the wine bar. And I’m torn between being proud of what he’s reading and not wanting him to grow up to be the type of *adult* who reads the Iliad at the wine bar
