I do graphics and engine work for games. I also build stupid mtg decks, run short distances slowly, and enjoy trashy reality shows while drinking scotch.

  Going to chat tonight to high school kid who's thinking about studying to be a game developer (and their parents). I have no idea whether they want to be a designer, artist, programmer, etc. What non-discipline specific info do you wish you had before you started out in games?

  I've always been an AI skeptic... but my twitter feed is currently full of artists complaining about Midjourney and programmers complaining about Copilot. that seems like a pretty solid endorsement of this whole "AI" thing tbh.

  My iphone is slowly dying, it got into a state where touching the screen caused it to restart. I needed to google how to hard reset an iphone... which I then tried to do on the iphone that I needed to restart, with obvious results. It took me a minute to realize what I did.
