    Cannot be exaggerated how much of a game changer SpaceX is when visiting remote islands in the Pacific. 5+ years ago, this would've been a point-to-point radio uplink that got you 100 kbps on a good day, and it usually wasn't a good day. Now, 50 mbps.

    Seems very possible that within 5 years we'll look back on a decade of Silicon Valley Apple monoculture and it'll seem odd indeed. (Especially after Apple requires sandboxed execution to run `ls` or whatever else is next on their insidious roadmap.)

    TBH, it never occurred to me that in Oracle's rollback log approach is that undoing a partial transaction is as much work as performing it in the first place. You lose the capability of cheaply cancelling long-running transactions, a *huge* ops downside. boringsql.com/posts/mvcc-bad…

    Future classes on PR will study how Anthropic speedran from universally loved to universally reviled in <6 months. No single incident — just a constant stream of bad faith, thinly veiled monopolistic behavior, and fearmaxxing, which people detected they didn't actually believe.
