I deleted my Windows installation

Until recently I had two installations on my computer: One SSD contained my Windows installation and the other one Fedora.

I decided to uninstall Windows, as I kept it mainly due to few reasons which proved wrong:

• Old data laying there
• Keep my Windows skills up to date
• For the case I need to solve a problem where Fedora can’t help

All of this proved wrong. I didn’t boot Windows for problem solving since I installed Fedora.

Some things may have a better UX in Windows or work out of the box like the graphic card. But I reached the point where my Fedora installation just works as I like it: Everything which I want to do I can do there.

Also, in general I haven’t started Windows to check up old data. This shows that I don’t need the data and I can just copy it to an external disk. Just for the case..

As I use Windows at my daily work I also don’t need to fear losing knowledge how to use it. Although at this I’m also convinced, that an OS like Windows which aims non-technical users should have a self-explaining UX. So, even if wouldn’t use it at work (where I use mainly WSL2), I should not worry about losing track.

This is the first time since around 22 years that I don’t own a computer with a Windows installation at home. I don’t say that I’ll never look back, but for now it feels like it was a good idea to free up my second SSD.s
