The Subconscious Keeps Everything And Everyone

#93

It’s 4 am, I suddenly woke up and found myself thinking about how strange the subconscious mind can be. I had been dreaming that I was part of a new lab, working with a new team on my latest ambitious project. There was a professor who had an office designed for staying overnight, so there was no need to go home. It was part of a large space where lab members could sleep and continue their work.

In the dream, I entered that large room, and the place was filled with objects from my old room. By that, I mean the room I had in my early twenties, where I had a beautiful custom sofa (it had a velvety fabric, long shape that you could lay on and had red lines on the side) and other things I truly loved. I had left them behind when I eventually immigrated, and over time I completely forgot about them. In the dream.

Then suddenly, I missed those things deeply. I missed my room. It is hard to explain the feeling, but it made me realize how the things and people we leave behind can return unexpectedly through these dreams. They remain somewhere in the subconscious, quietly present. Even the things or people you believe are long gone can still exist within you. It was just something I felt.
