Howdy Tech Threads - I'm Jason Shellen. Currently advising & consulting emerging companies on product, strategy, & biz dev. I started as a teenage graphic designer during the desktop publishing revolution. One of my last classes in college was called "Web Publishing," where I learned HTML. I was hooked! A few years later, I worked on Blogger to help make sure anyone could post on the web. After we sold to Google, I started the Google Reader project so we could read all the things people posted.

I've had the good fortune to keep creating beloved and useful products like... Brizzly, an early Twitter web client and group chat tool, which we sold to Aol. While at Aol, I ran the Messaging group, which included AIM.
Fun fact: I later bought Brizzly.com back from AOL, and is now a great place to post things you don't want anyone to see. Long live brizzly !

They got me with the Wheel of Punishment once too. Fine Arts Degree. It’s not so bad and you get to chuckle when someone nearby confesses they suck at drawing.
My perfectionism is annoying, but only when I can’t get everything just right.
