User Reviews

  • Excellent BASIC interpreter; good compatibility, ease of use, with good documentations and helps. The recent versions are somewhat of a Rosetta Stone of BASIC dialect versions. The interpreter may be easily configured to "emulate" various common past dialects. The interpreter is written in C, is a fairly tight package and easy to follow. BWBASIC is not particularly fast, but it's really good, and well behaved. I've genuinely enjoyed toying with it (GNU/Linux, on mac thru Parallels Desktop, virtual machine). The compile on debian was flawless, fast, and easy. Thanks, to the guys that are maintaining!

  • it is quite faster then pcbasic (look at my review there) and has Compatibility yes but no renum or renumber possible but has for to next if then else goto gosub and or mid$ also it will crash during longer operations "bwbasic encountered a problem and needs to close. send error report yes no"

  • Good compatibility with old basic dialects, but very slow compared to e.g. gplbasic.
