I was dumb and did my quarterly check-in on linkedin (network/chat requests, etc.)... I've never been interested in any posts on linkedin (or maybe once a year) as the content and quality was often poor… But, even though I didn't think it was possible, it got worse -_-"

Sometimes, when receiving fishing email (like the latest one for an "ovh renewal"), I wish there was a service where I can enter the used email address so their mailbox get spammed like crazy…

Earlier today, I was in a meeting and after a few minute, as there was an action for me, I said "Let me write this down so I don't forget", then on the other side of the call the feedback was: "no worries, let me start the AI assistant (in this case Gemini) so it takes note for us".
While I didn't really care, my first thought was: "are people so lazy they can not take a few notes anymore" and then: "Do poeple just hope/trust AI to capture everything without any mistake?"

Which hardware would you guys suggest to run #OPNsense ? Going to change house in a few month and I started thinking about my new network setup there and want to have OPNsense in front of everything (right after the internet provider box) as a firewall and manage multiple network for my homelab and others. Official OPNsense store show crazy expensive hardware so looking for alternative advice :)

Going to try the upgrade to #gotosocial 0.20. Apparently it will take a while.
Last time there was a big upgrade, it failed (because the digital ocean droplet I'm using is so small) so it may fail again this time. In that case I'll reupload the backup and run the upgrade on another machine and then copy the database back after (this is what I've done last time).
Anyway, might take some time for this instance to come back up, but hopefully it will be on the 0.20 version :).

So at work we have a gen AI available "trained on our own documentation". I usually don't use it but like to test it from time to time just to check.
Today was one of these checks:

• Me: Can you tell me if product X can do blablabla?
• AI: Product X, formally named Y, blablabla about product Y which exist, but isn't X. So incorrect answer
• Me: Product X was formally named Z, not Y
• AI: No, Product X was named Y when company A bought it
• Me: You are wrong, product X was named Z before A acquired it
• AI: Oh yes you are right, since 2024 A acquired Z and changed its name to X.

Multiple problem here:

• Most obvious, first answer was incorrect, because not only the former name was wrong but also the answer, because it was talking about another product entirely. Someone that does not know the answer will just take the answer as is and "trust" the AI. So they will be wrong
• I'm telling the AI the correct new name, but AI indicates I'm wrong. Again, if I don't know or unsure, I may stop here and be left with a completely incorrect response to my question
• Explicitly telling the AI that it is wrong with the same answer I gave just before, this time the AI agrees with me… Meaning I can potentially changed its answer based on what I'm forcing the AI to "believe". For people with confirmation biais, that's just gold

So yeah, keep throwing money at this broken thing killing the planet, that's great

So my "lunch break" today looks like this, meetings from 12 to 12:15, then 12:30 to 1, then 1 to 2 and then 2 to 3.
