How Teaching Works

Apply to Teach

Your first step is to create an account and let us know what you're excited to teach. Be as specific as possible and reference our Content Guidelines when making your plan!

Create Your Class

You've planned, now it's time to film. When you're done, publish your class with our easy class upload tool.

Engage and Earn

Now that your class is out in the world, stay engaged! Give feedback on student projects and build your community. Teachers who qualify for royalties are paid monthly.

Why Students Love Skillshare Teachers

Over the past three years, the teachers on Skillshare have done far more than teach techniques—they've helped me build confidence, curiosity, and the courage to explore my own artistic voice. Their generosity, encouragement, and authenticity have shaped not just how I make art, but how I see myself as an artist.

As I've begun pursuing my own work more independently and selling my art, I may be less visible in class projects than I once was—but that's actually a testament to what Skillshare gave me. The foundation, inspiration, and sense of belonging I found here made that growth possible. I remain deeply connected to the community, continue taking classes and leaving reviews, and plan to stay a member because the teachers and students are truly special.
