Welcome to volume forty-four of Scrolls, a newsletter for sharing cool stuff from the IndieWeb, Fediverse & Cybersecurity realms. This week the web is abuzz, we have some simple social media advice, and supply chain security is in a heap of trouble.

IndieWeb
One of the best parts of having your own website, is having a space that has very few (if any) limitations in what you can share and how you share it (technologically, semantically, visually, etc…) Where the IndieWeb specifically struggles (sometimes) is with discovery and recreating some of the same social capabilities we’ve come to enjoy with communities built atop typical social media platforms. But as it turns out, there’s plenty of ways to be social on the web, without social media to bridge the gap. RSS isn’t typically though of in terms of its “social” qualities, but could it be a building block? Bulletin boards, community writing prompts, link blogs and podcasts are three other potential ways we can socialize things we do on the web with those who might be interested in being part of a conversation.
Finding others on the web, reading what they have to say, linking to it from our own sites, and finding ways to converse is both fun and critical to the Internet as an ecosystem. It can’t just be the robots that talk to each other can it!? In that vein, go make your own site. So we, the pollinators of the web may visit and spread ideas near and far, so they may be the seeds that create the future forests of the ‘net.
