I’ve lived in Northern Virginia (NoVA) for nearly 25 years. It’s a great place to live if you can afford it. Proximity to the beach, mountains and other states (WV, MD, DE, DC, NC, PA, NY, NJ), reliable job market and more! I wanted to capture a list of places/things I enjoy most around here so I can share it with others and reference it for myself in the future!
Hiking Old Rag - This is by far the best hike in the area. But there are lots of other great hikes in Shenandoah too!
Appalachian Moutains / Shenandoah National Park - Lots to see and do and in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in the US.
Sky Meadows State Park - Great hikes and an easy drive from most of NoVA.
- The NoVA wine/beer region is incredible. Here are some of my favorite spots…
- Hillsborough Winery/Brewery - Great views, extremely fresh and tasty beer.
- Old Bust Head Brewing Co. - Home of some great beers including the best milk stout in the world.
- Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery - Small-batch beers that are delicious.
- Bluemont Vineyard - Best views in the region. Good wine too.
- I don’t have a lot of go-to restaurants but a few places I do adore are…
- Rustico - Huge selection of hard-to-find craft beers. Good food too.
- Cafe Delirium - I love belgian beer. This place’s got it.
- The Barn Yard “Au Jus” sandwich at Tuscarora Mill - The best sandwich that I’ve ever eaten.
- Downtown Leesburg - A lot of great restaurants to be found.
