👋 Hello! We're Dan and Jay

We're friends who met in college as random roommates. Instead of applying for jobs, we figured we had nothing to lose and started a bootstrapped consulting agency called 521 Dimensions in 2011.

👉 All developers should be able to connect humanity without sacrificing control or privacy. This is why we believe in open source projects.

We're self-taught developers (who often learned the hard-way). Learning software development is intimidating. We created a community called Server Side Up to make it easier for developers to learn new technologies.

Our favorite technologies
  • Laravel PHP
  • NuxtJS & VueJS
  • Vanilla JavaScript
  • Docker
  • Linux

Our main projects

🎵 AmplitudeJS - HTML5 Web Audio Library
☕️ ROAST - Demo app for teaching developers about APIs + SPAs
📕 Ultimate Guide to Building APIs & SPAs - A book for web & mobile app devs
💰 Financial Freedom - An open source alternative to Mint.com and YNAB
🐳 Docker-PHP - Production-ready PHP Docker images for Laravel & WordPress
🏗 Spin - Simplify development and replicate 100% of production with Docker

Sponsorship Tiers

What your support does

Your sponsorship allows us to focus more time on building these educational resources and open source projects. We self-taught ourselves and we have a ton of ideas to share with what we have learned. Right now our income is supported through clients hiring us, which often takes up a lot of our time and it's code that we cannot share.

🙏 If we can gain enough support, we'll be able to go full-time on Server Side Up and bring you quality resources at minimal or no cost at all.
