RESOLUTION 2026-8-7-1 TOWNSHIP OF SECORD COUNTY OF GLADWIN
RESOLUTION 2026-8-7-2 TOWNSHIP OF SECORD COUNTY OF GLADWIN
TO PLACE MILLAGE QUESTION ON BALLOT
WHEREAS, the Township Board of Secord Township wishes to provide fire protection and emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, townships may provide fire protection and emergency medical services, as authorized by Public Act 33 of 1951, MCL 41.801; and
WHEREAS, townships may impose and levy ad valorem property taxes to finance lawful public services, as authorized by the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and other laws; and
WHEREAS, the Township Board of Secord Township wishes to levy .5 mill to provide fire protection and emergency medical services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Township Board of Secord Township, Gladwin County, approves the following millage ballot question language and directs the Clerk to submit it to be placed on the November 3, 2026, election ballot:
SECORD TOWNSHIP GLADWIN COUNTY FIRE/EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES MILLAGE PROPOSAL
Shall Secord Township impose an increase of up to .5 mills ($.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for 4 years, 2027 through 2030 inclusive, for fire protection and emergency medical services, which .5 mills increase will raise an estimated $69,410.62 in the first year the millage is levied.
