In the middle of nowhere, KY, and have full 5G service. Craziness.

Got bored, built a window manager for Wayland.  Terminal and tag driven, so that I don't have to move my hands off the keyboard.  Fun times.

Yes, I know Wayland uses compositors and not the window manager / server concepts from x11; I used #river as a bootstrap to handle the compositor part and just did a bunch of config / customizations / etc - window manager style.

Building on the Developmental Model of Polymathy (Araki, 2015, 2018, 2020; Araki & Cotellessa, 2020), polymathy is conceived here as a mode of engagement with life (particularly with learning, knowing, and doing) rather than as a status label. It describes a patterned way of engaging with knowledge, understood broadly to include formal and informal learning, autodidactic activity, and meaningful personal experience. This framing emphasizes not only how learning is acquired, but how it is developed, refined, and enacted over time. Polymathy as a life project (Araki, 2018) therefore goes beyond an inventory of competencies or achievements to describe a way of living with and through knowledge.

Proposed definition by Michael Araki (https://www.qeios.com/read/XROC7M) - I know some people that should read it.

“Stacking deterministic results to build human-accountable autonomy”.

That’s a phrase that came out of a brainstorming session today. I quite like it.

Received my first block on the fediverse today for challenging the thinking of someone who thought they were challenging someone else's and they didn't want to be challenged back.

Fun times.

Pulled up the #garlic today. Got quite the mix of sizes and completeness. Got about 80% harvest, which given the lack of effort I put in, I’m quite ok with.

Was it worth it? By any objective measure, absolutely not. I could have bought this much garlic and/or powder for about $5 and it would have been perfectly ok.

But, it’s really good garlic, the next round will give better results, and I put in approximately 0 effort. So I’ll plant more come fall, and with hopefully slightly more effort we’ll get slightly better results.

I just stumbled onto Mastui - I think I like it?  Tough to tell yet.  Textual is textual.

Hah - managed to get my blog to announce itself to the fediverse - @blog (not that I actually ever write anything).  More details to follow....

In whatever you choose to do, do it because it's hard, not because it's easy.

Math and physics and astrophysics are hard.

For every hard thing you accomplish, fewer other people are out there doing the same thing as you. That's what doing something hard means.

And in the limit of this, everyone beats a path to your door because you're the only one around who understands the impossible concept or who solves the unsolvable problem.

At the largest national youth archery tournament in the country, and have a heat index over 105F (41C). At least 1 archer nearly succumbed to heat exhaustion and dehydration on the field. It’s insane.

Second half postponed to 6:30pm, when hopefully it will start cooling down. Here’s to hoping.

How long does it take to change the water pump in a jeep?

1 beer.

3am local and I can’t sleep. Yay.

We’re expecting 4” of rain in the next 3 days. Here’s to hoping we don’t get flooding like a couple of years ago…
