Drop

info

A mouse who seems to be followed by rainclouds wherever they go. Wants to learn everything about the outside world!

a side character in Lonely Wolf Treat who later starred in Escape from Wormwood. she's one of the shopkeepers in Syrup 2, and was added to the cast of another piece of candy in 2025.

lived in Wormwood until the events of Wandering Wolf Trick... now they live near syrup and co, selling plants and seeds they gather from various places.

drop was made for LWT chapter 3, as a mouse who wasn't allowed into frosting. their dialogue was too interesting to leave them as a one-off npc, so i had them reappear in the chapter 4 as the friendly mouse who helps you escape.

i never drew concept art for her first appearance, so technically i don't know the date drop was originally designed! probably sometime in april 2016.

personality

quiet and direct. cautious about the outside world, but very interested in it. has a confused sense of morality because of their upbringing. they're trying to unlearn a lot of things because of that. becomes extremely gloomy and distant if she thinks about her past too much.

she opens up a lot and become much more cheery once she starts her own business and finds fulfillment in contributing to the world in a positive way! a very curious person, willing to give anything a shot and loves to learn new things.

relationships

FAMILY

Wormwood Mice
drop grew up in a cult!!! it was bad!!!!!! because they all wore masks, she didn't have deep connections with any of the other mice and feels a lot of confusion and regret over how they lived.

FRIENDLY

Loam (deceased)
drop's first friend from the outside. he was able to shift her worldview away from the cult's teachings, though he wasn't able to save himself in the two weeks they spent together. drop feels a heavy sense of loss when she thinks of him, though her view on this man is very idealized.
Trick
drop admires trick's optimism and strives to be like them. she thinks of trick as the reason she was able to escape wormwood and start her new life.
Syrup
they meet during syrup 2, and drop is impressed that syrup came to town and started her business from nothing and she wants to do the same. syrup becomes a sort of mentor/inspirational figure for her, which boosts syrup's ego.
Mince
they haven't really interacted but since they both sell at the same market, i think they would become friends! they can be seen chatting in the title screen illustration for syrup 2.

story

drop's backstory is very dark BUT SHE MAKES IT OUTTA THERE!! SHE'S THRIVING NOW!!! it's heavy though so pls take care

cw: violence and disturbing cult stuff

HAHA OKAY SO WORMWOOD

in LWT i felt it was important to show a village of "prey" animal folk killing and eating people, thus, the cannibal mouse cult was created. the way they operate is they wait for lone travelers to wander in, then prepare them for a feast to honor their god (which they call the Highest Power). poison berries grow in the area in abundance, so people would often eat them, get sick, be taken in by the mice, and then they have to wait for the poison to leave their system before killing and eating them.

drop was in charge of preparing the victims for the feast by draining their blood and then chopping them up once they die. she was 13 when she was assigned to this work, and didn't realize anything she was doing was wrong, because she was taught that it was all to honor her god, the highest power.

Escape from Wormwood

spoilers (same cw as above)

this game starts in the perpective of loam, a researcher who ended up in wormwood with a party of two others. he assists drop in the murder/dismemberment of his collegues, thinking she'll help him escape as long as he keeps being helpful/friendly to her.

but she doesn't. because in her mind, he's an offering for the feast who just happens to be really nice and making himself useful. she enjoys talking with him and drains his blood a lot slower than how the other two were handled. the whole time this is happening he's desperately trying to convince her that what she's doing is wrong, but he's not able to make her really understand before he's killed. she's 16 when this happens.

since she handled the victims directly and was basically unsupervised, she got to hold onto their possessions, including loam's journal which contained a lot of information on the outside world. she started collecting materials like this while continuing to do the same work she's always done, though she was much more hesitant to kill after loam died. he was the first one whose death she felt conflicted about, but sadly she only felt the weight of his loss after the fact. he caused her to start to question the cult's worldview after learning what the outside world's moral framework is like...

in the 2-3 years she spends untangling her beliefs and thinking about running away, she helps many would-be victims escape, including trick. though their meeting was brief, trick's smile reminded her of loam's, the person she first connected with and who taught her so much... and although she's worried about future victims of the cult, she knows she can't stay in wormwood forever. she's finally able to gather the courage to get outta there!!!

after the events of this game, she leaves her village and bravely starts a new life on her own. she's 19 by the time she leaves.

Lonely Wolf Treat

the first time you see drop is when she's hanging out in front of frosting during ch3. she's a bit gloomy and talks about rain seeming to follow her wherever she goes (reminding her of wormwood). she says she's from a mouse-only village, and she seems to be uncertain on whether or not to go back there... she's still nervous about being in the outside world for the first time, and isn't sure where to go.

in chapter 4, you get to see where drop came from! they wear a mask like all the other mice, but they help trick escape before the feast... then when they take it off in the end you realize you met them previously while playing as moxie. seeing trick stumble through that situation seemingly obliviously makes them feel more confident in making it in the outside world. they leave wormwood as soon as they muster the courage.

when you see them again in chapter 5, they're selling seeds/flowers in the marketplace in town! successful life reset!!!!

Syrup 2: Candy Alchemy RPG

her appearance here fills in the gap between LWT chapters 3 and 5, where she meets syrup and decides to start her own business. mostly her scenes are asking syrup's advice and trying to learn how to sustain herself.

MoxDonald's

this is where the joke of drop being mysteriously skilled at everything came from. she joins the staff of moxdonalds and is a model employee, doing everything with ease... when a customer brings up her past though, she becomes distant and starts talking vaguely about her regrets and trauma. no one knows what's going on and are worried about her.

but she bounces back the next day and works normally for the rest of the story. when moxdonald's shuts down, she's not sad about it--it was a temp job to begin with, so she's just glad she could've been a part of the team!

The Foxy Catch

drop works on the fishing boat (the s.s. meow!) with toffee and catches all sorts of rare fish. toffee is super impressed. she also catches a pufferfish for timber as requested.

ending spoilers

while fishing during the rainstorm, she hooks something that pulls her off the boat and into the sea. as she sinks down she thinks about how the bubbles and darkness make it look like space... and then nil appears in the abyss and saves her!

after that, you can see drop in the shelter with the rest of the crew of the s.s. meow. congrats on hooking the rarest fish of them all... the null witch herself!!!

Drop

this is so sweet of you, trick. mods, please don't delete this comment even though it's spam!

Trick

Huh? It's spam?

Drop

yes, those kinds of "send this to 10 of your friends" messages are actually spam! it's called a chain letter. sometimes the text will say something bad will happen if you don't share it, but the one you shared is very nice, so... i like it! thank you!

Trick

Oh, I deleted the "or else something bad will happen" part before sending it. Haha! I didn't know it was a chain letter, so thanks for teaching me. I still hope you have a wonderful day!
