OpenFlexure is an automated digital microscope designed by the OpenFlexure Project. LabCrafter sells a kit containing all the parts to build the low-cost version of the v7 microscope.

You can upgrade this version of the kit to a high-resolution version at a later stage using our high-resolution upgrade kit.

Kit contents

The kit contains all the 3D-printed parts you need to build the low-cost version, as well as the following hardware:

Electronic components

• Sangaboard v5 
• 200mm Pi Camera ribbon cable
• 28BYJ-48 stepper motors
• Raspberry Pi Camera Module v2

Illumination kit

• LED board
• diffuser
• board spacer
• wiring
• condenser lens

Mechanical components

• M3 nuts, washers, screws and bolts
• Viton O-rings

Assembly tools and consumables

• 2.5mm ball-end Allen key
• nut tool, band tool and band tool cover for actuator assembly
• Lens tool
• Light oil

Available colours

LabCrafter can 3D print the microscope in the following filament colours:

• Black
• Blue
• Green

You'll need a Raspberry Pi, a power supply, and an SD card to get the microscope up and running. These items are sold separately if you don't already own them.
