Yosemite App Store Connection Issues Over WiFi

Yesterday, I noticed my Mac wasnโ€™t connecting to the App Store. I couldnโ€™t log in, and my attempts met with a โ€œConnection Failedโ€ error. All the tabs produced blank pages.

Even running Software Update from the command line was failing:

$ softwareupdate -vl

The network connection was lost.

After much searching of Google with no specific solutions, I did see lots of results around WiFi issues. Itโ€™s no secret that Yosemite (and iOS 8.1) has suffered a lot in the WiFi department.

Plugging my MacBook into the Ethernet resolved the issue, and I could hit the App Store again. Back on WiFi, it still wasnโ€™t working.

The solution for me was to forget all the WiFi networks, remove the WiFi connection and re-add it afresh. This seemed to work for me.

Interestingly, this happened just after Apple pushed out its NTP fix.

Hopefully someone else with the same problem will stumble across this article and be saved some head scratching.
