Yusuf Aytas

I engineer systems and lead teams that make execution simpler. My work sits across cloud platforms, data, reliability, distributed systems, and technical leadership. Over the last 20+ years, I have built backend and platform systems, led multi-region engineering organizations, scaled teams across regions, and worked on the operational layer that makes software dependable under real load.

I care about the parts of engineering that are easy to describe badly and hard to execute well: ownership, interfaces, delivery systems, production change, resilience, and the trade-offs behind architecture.

What I work on

  • Distributed systems and backend platforms
  • Cloud, data, and reliability engineering
  • Developer workflows and operational tooling
  • Engineering leadership, execution, and organizational design

What I write about

I write about engineering as a system. That includes architecture, technical debt, planning, delivery, operational discipline, and team effectiveness. Most engineering problems look local at first. In practice, they are often coordination problems wearing technical clothes.

Books

Teaching

I lecture on software engineering, data analytics, and AI-related topics.
