This reverts commit fc62402 .
The rake command runs sequentially by default, with optional parallel execution.
Enabling parallelization for mruby builds by default can make troubleshooting issues more difficult.
Furthermore, switching from parallel to sequential execution requires using environment variables instead of rake command switches, which may confuse users.

Summary of Changes

Hello @dearblue, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request aims to improve the developer experience and simplify troubleshooting for mruby builds by reverting a change that enforced parallel execution by default. By restoring sequential execution as the standard, it makes the build process more predictable and easier to debug, while also clarifying how users can opt into parallel builds when desired.

Highlights

  • Revert Previous Change: This pull request reverts a prior commit ( fc62402 ) that made Rake builds parallel by default unless the SERIAL=1 environment variable was set.
  • Default Sequential Execution: The change restores the default behavior of Rake, where builds will now run sequentially, allowing for optional parallel execution when explicitly configured.
  • Improved Troubleshooting and User Experience: The revert addresses concerns that default parallelization complicates troubleshooting mruby build issues and that requiring environment variables for sequential execution could confuse users.
