January
I'll attempt to do monthly journals. I haven't done it before but I think it is actually a perfect way to get all of these small things out that I either have on my mind or feel I dont have a another space to share on.
working on
frans.today got upgraded, and jezz what a journey! I was rushing to get the bare minimum out, something that I was happy enough with. And those things that I was unhappy with-- they weren't too bad anyway :) I am just SO happy that it is out there.
homelab loads of smaller nice-to-haves. I have mostly been trying to find a good rss reader for me. I like to self-host it, but not requirement. Started with freshrss, but I really wanted to save-for-later for random URLs so now I switched to Linkwarden which supports rss. It doens't feel right yet though.
outpost-42 is a new idea I started prototyping. I am considering getting a Light Phone 3 still but one of the main challenges was acquiring information from safari, or knowing business hours for a specific place. I have now a running prototype (start feb) where I can send wiki <string>, mistral <question> and places <address> on signal to myself, and then the bot sends back an answer.

The intention is to get this working with SMS. For now I am mostly just getting the basic working. The steps after this is to set up an old Android phone, deploy it to that and implement SMS service. Alternative I could use some kind of SMS service, they are not even that expensive.. Makes it a little easier.
Think this is a great minimalistic solution to implementing lacking functionality to pretty much ANY phone.
google takeout is great... But it spits out JSON files with metadata instead of saving it directly to the exif data. This requires post-processing and I have just been in the mud trying to figure this out. There are both paid programs for it and some open-source ones, neither perfect.
obsessions
Max High (spotify) was recommended on spotify and so incredible tracks for listening on speakers during nighttime. Recommendation: Max High - Going To Ala Moana
laurel halo HÖR set (youtube) huge fan of hers. Been having this on repeat at work and during night times lately. Sooooo goooodd and so much different in there.
Alluring Arctic Salling is one of my current alternatives to Martijn Doolaard. I had totally forgotten about them, but they re-appeared on my feed. They are so quirky, but the things they are doing is incredible. Their journeys look incredible and it is completely out of this world that they can achive this! Also, ton of insights into semi- low tech stuff and general survival in extreme environments.
Had three days where I was just watching Kilian Bron (youtube) all the time. His commentary is so simple and emotional. Not that I would ever get to this level, but wow mountain biking looks FUN.
activities
started gym; very, very proud! I got a program set up via a professional and I have been going 2-3 times since start of january. It has been very good for me- now just to keep it going! For now I am doing 20 minutes biking and then 40-50 minutes of strength training. The plan was mostly focused on getting back strength due to sitting down all day.
two-hour tuesdays is something a colleague of mine invited me to. It is pretty much a "sit together on discord and work on something for two hours, together with other people". Think it is quite so why not!
Haven't touched lego in ages. Partner gifted me a lego bonsai out of nowhere and OHGOD YES. We sat together and did it an afternoon and it was sooooo nice. Just totally unsure where to put these kinds of things - I don't really enjoy having lego standing around and I rather just exchange it out after I am done building it.
