April

a very unexpected turn of events for this month;

on my way to (absolutely incredible) thomas dvorak (CZ) concert I end up crashing on my bike with the whole thing flying above me as I hit the ground. Luckily, didn't get any major injuries except for a gnarly wound on the side on my arm. Unfortunately totalled the front tire on my citybike, 2 spokes exploded.

The day after my partner and I went on a nice little biketrip to Rungsted Havn to get Fish and Chips. But as soon as we start driving back my partner end up falling, very unluckily, trying to get on their bike and literally breaking 5th metatarsal bone (feet). This has resultet in me working from home quite a bit, ensuring food is prepared and apartment is not falling apart (from me being a messy guy as usual lol)

Helped my sister moving to another part of the country; it is much further away than before, but it is a beautiful place. Excited to visit them, but sucks that it is so much further away :( BUT in reality; it might not take much longer to go there than previous location.

body

Due to partners broken feet and me taking care of them, means I haven't had much time to go to fitness. I am mentally punishing myself a lot over it, but I hope next month will be better.

I did end up going twice with a good friend of mine to do some bouldering. Loved it! I hope to do more casually, as it really pushes my body at a great degree of fun, which is just perfect for me.

dumbphone & new camera

After much back-and-forth with myself, I finally got to land on a theme for this year. It is overdue, but thats fine - I have without my own knowledge been working with it!

As I was helping a family member of mine moving we discovered this old pipe of electronics - you know, the drawer with all the old crap in... And there was a little device that caught my interested.

A Garmin Asus A10 from 2010. I took it home as it looked so funny and I was just curious whether it still worked. To my surprise, it was a fully featured Android phone. Mind you it is running Android 2.1 and all the root CA are expired long time ago so everything is just broken on it. ... but it was just super cool? I tried putting my simcard in and it worked! SMS and everything, no problem.

I spent the next few days trying to manuall update the SSL certificates. Trying various methods with updating the cacerts.bks, but after much struggle (and to my blessing) I ended up giving up on SSL support. Luckily Calls, SMS and even Google Maps works, so I dont really know what else I need in reality?

With my new dumbphone I decided also to get a new camera. At the time I had an Sony A6000 for some time now... It is OK, but I needed something smaller. Sold it and bought a used RX100 (1th ge). Unfortunately, the camera got smashed quite badly in transportation. The camera was all over the place with focus and turned into random modes constantly.

I got the money back for the camera, but seller didn't want the camera back, so I ended up trying to fix it. To my surprise, bending much of the metal back and changing to focus mode to single-shot fixed most issues. At times it can be a little funny. BUT! For the most part it works fine for me?

bicycle lab

It is starting to be warm enough to work on bikes outside, so we can finally open up the bike kitchen again at Bicycle Innovation Lab. I went 2 times this month and did a little prepping on my "new" CUBE SL Road.. Mounting their propitiatory mudguard and rear rack.. In preparation for selling it again as this bike is just not what I wanted in the end.

It gave me some confidence in changing my Bergamont Grandurance bike so I got a new shorter stem for it to fit my height and I think it was a REALLY good choice. Very happy to be back on the old and proof'ed bike!

We also did a new session of the bike workshop and I was invited in to be assistant, which has been really fun. I am always a little conflicted with giving advice as I think my standard is pretty much "is it running? good enough!". And I can get into the small details if people ask me, but I am just not good at doing the "perfect" (will never happen) adjustments yet.

gaming

ohmygod i gamed a little?! TES: Oblivion Remaster got released to many peoples surprise. I followed reddit very closely with all the leaks coming up here and there. Hype was real!! The game runs like poop on my machine so it is just like the old experience back to the original version, but it is such a joy to visit Cyrodiil. I just love the game for its perfect middle-ground of sillyness and actual good gameplay. It is much more theatrical than Skyrim and just FEELS really nice.

Secondly I got Citadelum. I am exactly the target group; I played the CEASAR games and I wanted a successor. It was among one of those games that I played together with my dad. I had no clue how to play it and funnily enough this new version is totally giving me troubles as well haha. The game feels very nice and polishing. Very refreshing type of gameplay as well. This will be played more in the coming months!

game network channel

a toot made me remember this video game channel that I watched in the early 2000. I have this vivid memories of Tekken with Shakira playing on top of it. Or other intro clips/game clips with Drum and bass. My dad had pirated the sattilite channel and I was just watching days in a row. It was a 24/7 channel and all the content was on repeat.

So I have had several tries at figuring out which one it was, it wasn't g4, gamer.tv or any of these. But somehow YouTube recommended me this ONE video and BAM THERE IT WAS.

Here is a bunch of cool clips I remember myself or simple just discovered.

This channel introduced me to SO MUCH music for my teenage years. It was pretty much my MTV mixed with inspiration for videogames.

I ended up downloading very single clip I could find on YouTube. I wanna do a little highlight session myself for later and potentially upload them to the Internet Archive as they really deserve that.
