I watched Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere on March 16, 2026

review:

The subjects of this film are irredeemable, tragic and sit behind an impenetrable fortress of paranoia, ideology and (most painfully) an inability to love. The brokenness of their souls makes for an ultimately shallow film that rarely breaks past these walls. I don’t know if Louis was really feeling it at all and realised that he was dealing with people who are pathologically committed to constructing adversarial power struggles at all times.

The glimmers of light in here, for me, are the stories of the followers and hanger-ons. I wanted more of that and less of the presumed big draws, which was like blood from a stone. There’s definitely something about the chasm between these kinds of social media operators and traditional documentarians, evident throughout, that has potential for a deeper exploration. I just don’t think they went nearly hard enough.
