Hello! I've released both the template and steam export script that I use for my achievement wall.
I've already talked about the creation of the achievements wall page in this blog post, if you want to learn more.
Unlike my other resources, this is less "non-programmer friendly". At least, the script to fetch the steam achievements. Everything else (the template, manual achievement adding) should be pretty standard. I'd like to make it more non-programmer friendly in the future, but for now I just wanted this to exist and be out there.
I might look into setting this up with other achievement sources, such as Art Fight, YNOProject, and maybe Minecraft. We'll see what the possibilities are.
As an aside: I am aware that there are some people that find achievements meaningless, antithetical to simply experiencing the game as it is. I am someone that likes to get achievements but also felt similarly.
Well...
After creating this achievement wall, I have found myself genuinely enjoying games a lot more, and a newfound appreciation for achievements.
I've been struggling to play games but now that there are achievements I can hunt for that I can actually immortalize it on my site. I'm actually stoked to play games more often now. It's genuinely brought me a new source of joy.
I think I am discovering I am some kind of collector at heart...
Achievement hunting is different than completion to me. With the way I have things set up, there isn't a focus on getting all the achievements in a game, which I find much nicer personally.
Anyways, if this is useful for at least one person, then I'd be stoked. I definitely should've been doing other stuff instead of focusing on this. But there are worse ways to waste time.
Love,
Espy
