This film is so good at making me forget that work sucks.

Nobuko Miyamoto have the unique talent of making me share a smile with her for hours. I don’t know what’s up with Miyamoto, but every comedy featuring her, so far, got me in this state of joy.

In Tampopo she was the apprentice, but here she helped everyone, from the apprentices to the artisans, to be proud of their work, and the film direction made it very endearing to follow.

The first part basically is housewives ganging up on proud men to humble them, and the second part of the film is a wee more dramatic without losing its impeccable sense of humor.

I hate supermarkets, they make me feel anxious, but Supermarket Woman achieved quite a feat nonetheless by making it to my list of comfort films.
