july 2026 highlights
- Number of movies watched: 32
- Favorite/most memorable movie: The Odyssey (2026). I didn't love Her Private Hell (2026) but it's been on my mind a lot, so I think that makes it worth mentioning
- Had a much slower, sadder month than usual and felt pretty unmotivated to work on creative projects
- Been thinking about rigid beliefs and how I often feel embarrassed for having them and that maybe shutting up about everything is the answer, maybe that's the key to flexibility
- But then I've also been (over-)thinking about noncommittal, excessively flexible people and it's not that they keep quiet about their opinions, it's that they often don't have them, and they don't know who they are or what they stand for and for whatever reason they always want to be my friend (inspired by someone I finally cut off because her weak convictions made her sound like an HR rep)
Anyway I'll be watching loads more movies as I distract myself from being sad about (temporarily) slowing down creatively and losing a friend.
