Wake Up Call

I was reading Brandon's blog post this morning and it reminded me of my situation.

I've thought of my realtionship with my wife when we discuss topics. At times I feel like I'm on the outside watching two people headed down into a negative space. All because one of us started sharing another bad issue happening in the world outside our home. I've learned to stop the conversation at that point. It is hard to do at times but I'm getting better at it. I don't think my wife knows I'm doing it either.

Brandon mentions if he had read the story in a newspaper it wouldn't have the same impact as reading it online. In an online world, everyone has a good or bad comment about the story. Many times it is bad and other times it could be a bot not human. Back in the day before bots and few trolls, this was a great opportunity for healthy debates and humans could learn from each other. This isn't the case today and since nothing improves from governments or corporations, they only solution is to minimize our online activities.

I've actually been considering subscribing to home paper delivery and reading the news the next day. Many of us recall how different the experience was to learning about issues than over reacting to articles. One day old news isn't going to change anything in your life. I also get the benefit of local advertising that isn't as bad as online with trackers.

Remember to touch grass everyone.
