Participating online is not fun anymore

Humans are predictable. Not even a world pandemic was able to bring us closer after it ended. We could not be nice to each other for long. We stopped listening to each other. We just went back to the way it was and some would say even worse.

Participating online has become a daily event of muting, blocking and updating filters. Everyone screaming their views to each other is acceptable now. As you get comfortable in your online space, one day it will get disrupted by someone. It's a guarantee.

I've read a few posts recently of some Mastodon followers leaving social media and focusing on their blogs. There are many times throughout the day my internal voice reminds me of this as I mute and block and update filters.

When every platform is competing with each other for eyeballs, they are forgetting one thing. Many people may just delete their digital accounts and live in the real world. I've reduced my online activity and deleted several accounts. The Fediverse has been a nice option that runs on a different engine than other algorithm and advertising behemoths. But it's more of the same once you spend enough time. Eventually you are back in the muting, blocking and filtering cycle.

I'm tired of it.
