Back to a regular RSS reader
Recently I wrote about an app I was using called Tapestry to combine my rss feeds for reading, podcasts, YouTube and Mastodon. The app only worked in iOS and I found myself missing reading on my Mac. Taking a break from Mastodon meant I didn't need that feature any longer.
I went back to NetNewsWire on the Mac and stopped using Inoreader. This is when I noticed some blogs were not being updated in the Tapestry app. A couple of my favourite blogs were showing up everywhere else but not in Tapestry. Perhaps this is a bug but using this app didn't make any sense now. It looked nice but without a Mac version to sync my reading position and not using the extra features, I went back to using NetNewsWire on all my devices.
My wife recently gave me a iPhone 16 Pro Max for my birthday and reading is a pleasure once again on a bigger screen phone. I was able to read a book easily while I waited in line to vote yesterday. (Currently Canada has advanced voting for a federal election.) I didn't know I would be in a line for over an hour so it was a perfect moment to test reading on it outside in the sun and inside the voting location afterwards.
I'm glad I gave Tapestry a try reminding me of the old Twitterific days but I think it still needs some improvements on use and fixing bugs with syncing rss feeds. It's nice to be back to an old reading environment like NetNewsWire.
