Balkan Ruby 2026 took place amongst the real-world gemstone collection of the Natural Museum of Earth and Man. It was an excellent location, complemented beautifully by the treasure hunt game, expertly designed by Fury Escape Works. We talked about hot takes, or as spicy a Ruby event can get. We ran a tad late, but only because we had a bit too much fun. You can see that in our videos below, recorded and edited by Digger Video and Vestimir. This year, the Balkan Ruby tech conference is hosted in a truly unique location: the National Museum "Earth and Man" in Sofia.
Housed in a beautifully restored former barracks building from the late 19th century, the museum is dedicated to the study and preservation of the Earth's vast minerals.
This venue offers a unique thematic backdrop that perfectly aligns with our conference. The Ruby programming language shares its name with the actual precious gemstone.
Throughout the event, attendees will find themselves among a collection of over 20,000 mineral specimens. Imagine exploring the intricacies of software "gems" while surrounded by actual geological treasures, including giant crystals, rare minerals, and real ruby gem stones.
